Hello, I’m Robin Clifford Ellis, an Anglo-Finnish artist living in Helsinki. I take a process-based approach to image-making resulting in work which is a hybrid of print-making and drawing. I’m interested in how materials interact and react, in particular ink and paper. Currently I’m using drawing machines to explore a near-self-generative image making process which utlizes the properties of the media used rather than digital means.
I’m passionate about the communicative and creative possiblities of printmaking, regularly running workshops combining DIY methods, poster design, and sloganeering.
I also co-run the open-access screen printing studio Kalasataman Seripaja, am a founding member of the artist-led activist initiative No Putin No, and teach screen printing at Aalto University.
